The Coteaux Varois en Provence encompass 28 communes around Brignoles, between the rocky ranges of Sainte-Baume and Bessillons. |
|
Geology |
A considerable share of the character of Coteaux Varois en Provence comes from the geology of the land: a series of argillaceous-limestone folds running from East to West alternate with areas of gravels and flints. A tall standing plateau dating back to the Triassic Era where the main watercourses of the Var originate overhangs towards the south a deep depression separating it from the Maures range. |
Climate |
The shelter offered by the rocky outcroppings of Sainte-Baume and Bessillons makes the weather in the Coteaux Varois en Provence area more continental than in the rest of Provence, a little like a piedmont. The Autumn and Spring weather is often very mild, alternating with often more torrid summers and harsher winters than elsewhere in the region. |
